Meet the co-founders:
Freek van Welsenis and Luuk Jansen are the driving force behind Hable.
Freek leads the charge with deep experience in disability tech and a personal mission to make accessibility empowering, not bureaucratic. With a background in industrial engineering and years of global community engagement, he’s helped Hable reach users in over 40 countries.
Luuk brings over a decade of expertise in hardware innovation and product development. Having guided 50+ products from concept to market, he ensures every Hable device is intuitive, scalable, and built to last.
Together, Freek and Luuk are building a new generation of assistive technology: affordable, human-centered, and made for real life.

The Challenge
For millions of blind and visually impaired people, technology remains out of reach: either too expensive, too complex, or simply not designed with them in mind. This lack of access cuts people off from education, employment, communication, and independence. The result? A digital divide that leaves millions behind in a world that’s rapidly moving forward.

Our Strategy
There is no silver bullet in accessibility. Every person’s needs are different. That’s why we’re building a portfolio of affordable, easy-to-use tools designed with the blind and visually impaired community.
Our approach is simple: co-create practical solutions, remove cost and complexity, and deliver products directly to users, no gatekeepers, no waiting.
Everyone deserves the power to fully participate in society.
-
Access & Affordability
Access to digital devices remains a hurdle; many clients lack the necessary tools for internet access. Essential assistive technologies like screen readers and alternative input devices are pivotal. However, even where available, their high cost often makes them inaccessible.
-
Adoption
Adoption hinges on digital literacy: comprehending usage, having support systems, and receiving ongoing, needs-specific training. Without this, clients struggle to navigate digital platforms and utilize assistive technologies efficiently.

Our Impact
We launched the Hable One to give blind and visually impaired users full control of their smartphones. Today, over 3,000 people in 40+ countries use it to stay connected and live independently.
In 2025, we introduced the Hable Easy, designed for elderly users and those with motor impairments. It’s already transforming daily life. Making it possible for people to call family, send messages, and navigate their phones with ease, often for the first time.
